The young man knocks softly on the wooden gate, calls out softly but gets no answer,
Her boudoir door is half ajar, he hears heart-rending mournful cries loud as thunder,
A golden official seal presses lightly on her silk skirt, the official forces himself on her,
Her cries shatter the young man's heart, the weak young man outside hesitates,
He hesitates to push the door in, hangs his head in fear, suddenly hears a cat on the tiled roof,
Panicked, he glances at the moss by the door, and flees hastily in alarm,
He leaves behind only one single embroidered shoe, cold wind seeps through the window like tears of blood,
When the young woman sees this object, she climbs the tree in front of the door and hangs herself,
Only she still remembers, waiting for her beloved to come take her away.
