A spy needs to infiltrate a secret party to obtain information. At the entrance, a guard controls access with a special password system: he says a number out loud, and whoever wants to enter must reply with the correct corresponding number. A guest arrives, the guard says "8" to him, the guest replies "4", and he is let in... The next guest arrives, the guard says "14", the guest replies "7", and he is let in. Convinced he has figured out the pattern, the spy approaches confidently... The guard says "6", he replies "3", he is discovered to be a spy and killed. What was the correct password?
