Naked Dead Man in the Desert

Someone was walking through the desert. A few meters away, they found several abandoned sand sacks. Much further ahead, they found backpacks and scattered personal items. They kept moving forward, and even further on they found clothing: garments from three different people. Finally, they reached me. I was there, completely naked and dead, with an unlit broken match in my hand. What happened to me?
